WYNDHAM: Councillor suspended … again

Cr Josh Gilligan has been suspended as a Wynd-ham City Councillor … for the second time this year.
Cr Gilligan is serving a two-week suspension, which started on Wednesday, June 24, following the tabling of an internal arbitration report during the Council meeting on Tuesday (June 23).
Cr Gilligan was involved in a dispute with Cr Robert Szatkowski.
Arbiter Meredith Gibbs ruled that Cr Gilligan had breached the Model Councillor Code of Conduct in comments made to The Age on 4 February and in an email to Cr Szatkowski.
Cr Gilligan was ordered to publicly apologise to Cr Szatkowski at a council meeting and undergo training.
Cr Gilligan said he would comply with the orders but slammed the process.
“I have no legal right to a review or to appeal the decision on its merits, which I think is unfair for any mayor or councillor in this situation,” Cr Gilligan said.
