HUME: Suspicious fire at Westmeadows
Fire Recue Victoria responded at 3.54am Thursday (July 16) to an incident on Mickleham Rd, Westmeadows, after a caller to Triple Zero (000) reported a car into a building.
Firefighters arrived on scene within five minutes to find flames issuing from two factories housing a billiard playing business and furniture company. The car that crashed into the front of the concrete building was also alight.
Firefighters entered the building from the rear of the premises and conducted an aggressive internal attack on the fire.
Through their quick work, FRV crews brought the fire under control at 4.16am.
The fire was contained mainly to the billiard company, which sustained significant damage. The furniture business also received minor damage from smoke and flames.
The fire was deemed suspicious and handed to Victoria Police for investigation.
