LATROBE VALLEY: Wrong side of road driver blows .176


Police from the La Trobe area took an alleged drink driver off the roads after receiving reports of a vehicle travelling on the wrong side of the road in Morwell on Friday morning (July 24).
Officers responded after multiple calls were made to Triple Zero (000) for a vehicle travelling on the wrong side of the Princes Hwy just before 1am.
It is alleged the white Volvo was also driving almost half the speed limit, causing other road users to take evasive action to avoid a collision.
Officers quickly responded and safely intercepted the vehicle near Old Gippsland Drive in Moe.
The driver was arrested and taken back to a police station where he subsequently returned an alleged evidentiary breath test reading of 0.176.
The driver, a 44-year-old man, was issued with an immediate driving ban and had his vehicle impounded
The man was in custody where he was to be be interviewed in relation to driving offences.
