MORNINGTON PENINSULA: Charges over robberies
Two teenage boys have been charged over a spate of alleged robberies across a three day-period in the Mornington Peninsula.
It will be alleged the pair threatened a 15-year-old boy with a knife on Main St, Mornington, on July 7, where they made demands for his shoes before forcing him to transfer cash electronically.
The next day, they allegedly robbed two 14-year-old boys at the intersection of Main St and the Nepean Hwy, taking off with the victims’ puffer jacket, shoes and necklace.
Two days later, on July 10, a 14-year-old boy was allegedly threatened by one of the teens on a bus in Main St.
None of the victims were physically injured.
The incidents were reported to local police and following enquiries, detectives from the Mornington Peninsula Crime Investigation Unit arrested two boys aged 16 and 17 on July 21 at their respective homes.
The 16-year-old boy from the Mornington Peninsula area was charged with one count each of armed robbery, robbery, commit indictable offence whilst on bail, and possess cannabis. He was remanded in custody.
The 17-year-old from the Mornington Peninsula area was charged with armed robbery and possess cannabis and granted bail.
Both will appear in a children’s court at a later date.
