OBSERVER: I Love The Whole World
After writing two successful but serious and gloomy novels, author Victoria Hannan wanted a change.
And the result is her new gloriously named positive book called I Love The Whole World.
Having gone through an unusually liberating divorce at the tender age of 28, Victoria decided that the experience of separation doesn’t have to be negative and downbeat.
So in this book offers a refreshing counterpoint to the usual negative divorce experience, and create a ‘happy divorce’ scenario, which reflected her own experience.
So I Love The Whole World features a 48-year-old newly divorced female protagonist, who asks the vital question of what it means to truly come of age and find yourself later in life.
So the star of I Love The Whole World, Leslie McDonald, decides to go to somewhere she hates, Las Vegas, and set herself the challenge of finding beauty there.
To write it, Victoria went travelling throughout the USA, setting herself the task of finding beauty in the most unexpected places.
And at a time when the world can seem overwhelming, author Victoria reminds us that life is messy, unpredictable and sometimes absurd, but it is our life and belongs to us.
It’s up to us how we create happiness out of chaos and unexpected circumstances, and find that the world can be beautiful, weird and wonderful.
I Love The Whole World is published by Penguin Random House and available now online and in book shops.
