YARRA: Fitzroy non-fatal shooting
Armed Crime Squad detectives have charged a man following a non-fatal shooting at an apartment in Fitzroy earlier this year.
It is alleged thatc a 44-year-old woman was shot during an altercation at a property on Brunswick St about 6.10pm on August 31.
She was transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released.
Detectives yesterday arrested a 29-year-old Flemington man on Oakover Rd in Preston.
The man was allegedly spotted in a stolen vehicle before a short foot pursuit and his subsequent arrest.
He has since been charged with recklessly cause serious injury in circumstances of gross violence, reckless conduct endangering life, aggravated assault of a female, prohibited person possess firearm, fail to stop upon police request, theft of motor vehicle, assault police and commit indictable offence whilst on bail.
He was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on December 23.
It is believed the parties involved, although not known to one another, were both known to others present.
