OBSERVER: Peridot Theatre
Peridot Theatre presents Love in Translation, featuring three one-act plays, from November 12-15 at the Clayton Theatrette, Cooke St, Clayton.
The three one-act plays evolve around one theme: the evolution of courtship, communication, and dating rituals. It is an anthropological journey through how we express love, comparing traditional, quiet devotion with modern, rapid-fire chaos.
Love Letters by A.R. Gurney is a two-hander about two lifelong friends and the letters they exchange, told with warmth, grace and heart. Directed by Steve McPhail, this performance is a rehearsed reading.
Ferris Wheel by Mary Miller is the unlikely love story of two lonely people who are forced to ride together on an old country Ferris wheel. She’s afraid of heights, he’s afraid to give up smoking, and they are both afraid of each other. Directed by Robyn Kelly.
Mary Just Broke Up With This Guy by Garth Wingfield is directed by Kate Lawson. The play tells of Mary having just broken up with this guy she’s been seeing for six years. Welcome to the next year of her life – as she goes through a bazillion dates from hell.
