BAYSIDE: ‘Incomptent’ Brighton teacher Sam Trinh barred

Sam Trinh (Hoa Tam Trigh), former Brighton Secondary College (pictured) teacher, has been barred from the profession after a Victorian Institute of Teaching hearing that he did not attend.

Complaints about his competence had been lodged by students, parents and other teachers. He had been sacked from the school, and allegations were made that he did not adhere to the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers,. His re-registration in 2022 was subject to a number of conditions.

Journalist Caroline Schelle of The Age reported that the Institute had chased Trinth about complying with the conditions. A lawyer for the VIT reportedly said that Trinh showed “no remorse, no contrition, no insight”. He was accused of deliberately ignoring the conditions for 2½-years.

The VIT found Trinh guilty of serious misconduct.

Media attempts to contact Mr Trinh have been unsuccessful.
