MARIBYRNONG: Man held for historical robbery

Westgate Divisional Response Unit detectives have charged a man with an armed robbery that took place almost six years ago in Yarraville.
It is alleged a man rode a bike through the drive-thru of a fast-food restaurant on the corner of Somerville and Williamstown Rds just after 1am on August 4, 2018.
The offender forced open the drive-thru window, produced a firearm and made demands for the attendants to hand over cash.
One of the staff members handed over a quantity of cash and the offender rode off on his bike.
Police re-opened the unsolved investigation, executing two search warrants in Yarraville resulting in the arrest of the man.
The 40-year-old Yarraville man has been charged with armed robbery, prohibited person possess imitation firearm and possess drug of dependence.
He was held over to appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court.
