Northern Metropolitan MLC Evan Mul-holland says Greenvale residents are pleased that the long-awaited re-opening of Fleetwood Drive has finally happened.
“The road closure was meant to take six months and blew out to over 20 months, adding to the gridlock of construction around Somerton Rd, and highlighting a failure of leadership by local Labor MPs,” Mr Mul-hol;land said.
“Local residents were sick of the gridlock and sick of the construction. They just wanted this road opened and the project complete,” he said.
“I have been raising this with the Government and also working to resolve delays between Major Roads Projects Victoria and Jemena, the power utility, and Hume City Council to sort out the blame game on behalf of residents.
“The Empire State Building was built in 14 months. It is disgraceful that the Labor Government allowed this road project to drag on and take 20,” Mr Mulholland said.
