HUME: Minister slammed for Somerton Rd problems
There has been an unacceptable build-up of rubbish and debris along median strips in the outer north, particularly on Somerton Rd, according to Northern Metropolitan MLC Evan Mulholland (pictured).
“I am regularly contacted by constituents, particularly from Greenvale, who are frustrated at the mess and debris on Somerton
Rd. Piles of litter, dumped rubbish and overgrown grass not only look terrible but create safety hazards that put my community at risk and in danger.
“Also it undermines pride in our local community. Local residents know how to spot the difference between a local government road and a state arterial road.
“Just look at the State Government roads: they have usually got more potholes and more rubbish.
“Minister [Melissa Horne], these roads are your responsibility. I ask you to direct your department to urgently clean up debris and remove rubbish on Somerton Road.”
