Winery extension proposal at Glenburn


Philip Lobley Wines is putting a planning permit application to the meeting of Murrindindi Shire Council to be held at Yea on Wednesday night (Jan. 24).

Mr Lobley seeks to extend the building at 1084 Kinglake-Glenburn Rd, amend the liquor licence, and have the ability to hold 12 functions per year.

A Shire officer is recommending to Councillors that a planning permit be issued.

Mr Lobley asks that the 12 functions be able to be held between 11am-11pm on any day, to a maximum of 12 times a year, with a maximum number of 50 patrons. Under the proposed permit, background music may be played until 11pm, with acoustic music until 5pm. Functions could include open cellars, end of vintage celebrations, local artists showcases, new vintage releases, wine festivals and an annual dinner.

At least 15 car parking spaces are to constructed with an an all-weather gravel surface.

The permit allows for retrospective approval of the existing verandah.

The land is 8.6 hectares in area, and contains a house, bakery, various shedding, a large dam and vineyards.
