OBSERVER: Reservoir Dogs

Avid Theatre presents a theatrical reimagining of Quentin Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs at The Bakery @ 1812 Theatre until November 8. Described as ‘tense, stylish and darkly funny’.
After a jewel heist goes violently wrong, the surviving criminals meet in a warehouse to unmask the traitor among them.
Paranoia builds, tempers flare, and loyalty unravels as the gang’s perfect plan disintegrates in a haze of fear and blood. This is Reservoir Dogs ‘up close, on edge, and right under your skin.’
Directed by Michael Fenemore, blending Taran-tino’s cinematic cool with live-wire stagecraft, the production aims to deliver a tense, immersive atmosphere that honours the film’s cult legacy while carving its own identity in Melbourne’s independent theatre scene.
Grit, swagger and dark humour collide in a high-stakes game of trust and betrayal. ‘Not for the faint-hearted.’
Director Fenemore says: “Reservoir Dogs was never just about the heist — it’s about the people left behind to deal with the wreckage.
“On stage, that intimacy is inescapable. You feel the tension, the fear, and the absurdity of it all, right there in the room.
“It’s a pressure cooker of loyalty and survival, and that’s where the power of live theatre truly takes over.”
