CITY: Melton South woman charged over CBD assaults
Police charged a woman following two unprovoked assaults in Melbourne’s CBD on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 15).
It is alleged the woman approached another woman on Queen St and struck her in the upper body with an object about 3.40pm.
The woman continued walking north along Queen St and allegedly struck a second woman in the upper body with the same object.
The first victim, a 22-year-old woman from the Melbourne area, was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
The second victim, a 23-year-old woman also from the Melbourne area, was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers searched the area and arrested the 29-year-old Melton South woman near the intersection of Queen St and Therry St about 4.10pm.
Investigators believe the victims and the offender are not known to each other.
The woman has been charged with recklessly cause injury, aggravated assault of a female, commit an indictable offence whilst on bail and possess methylamphetamine.
She was remanded in custody to appear before court at a later date.
