GLEN EIRA: Zmood back as Mayor
Cr Simone Zmood (pictured), has been re-elected Mayor of Glen Eira for 2025-2026, continuing to represent Orrong Ward.
Cr Zmood will be joined by Deputy Mayor Cr Li Zhang, who represents Wattle Grove Ward.
This is Cr Zmood’s second term as Mayor and Cr Zhang’s second time serving as Deputy Mayor.
Cr Zmood said she was honoured to continue serving the community.
“I’m humbled and grateful to be supported as Mayor,” Cr Zmood said.
“I’m proud that so many people were willing to put their hands up for leadership. Over the past year, I’ve focused on inclusive and collaborative leadership, engaging with the community wherever possible. It’s a community I care passionately for.”
Cr Zmood said she was proud of her leadership for further cultural immersion training, making a difference to the relationship between council and community.
Cr Zmood said she looked forward to working with Cr Zhang, who was also first elected in 2020.
“She’s someone who listens very carefully and then comes in a timely manner to share deep insights and suggestions,” Cr Zmood said. Cr Zhang said: “Serving as your Deputy Mayor is a responsibility I take seriously — with courage, dedication and a strong sense of purpose.”
