MELTON: Intersections safer – McGhie, MP
Three intersections along in Melton are now safer for pedestrians, drivers and cyclists, according to local MLA, Steve McGhie.
The intersections of High St with Coburns Rd, Norton Drive and Holland Drive have been upgraded. Crews installed new traffic lights, traffic islands and signalised pedestrian crossings at the intersections with Coburns Rd and Norton Drive.
At both the intersections, street lighting and line marking has been upgraded as well as road resurfacing and tree and vegetation trimming and removal.
At the Coburns Rd intersection, new dedicated turning lanes and a raised safety platform have been installed.
The road has been widened at the intersection of High St and Holland Drive to cater for heavy vehicles turning left from High St.
A safer speed limit of 60-kmh has been introduced on High St in both directions between Melton Valley Drive and the Melton Hwy.
“This major project has made travel safer and easier for everyone moving through Melton – particularly the growing population who live locally,” Mr McGhie said.
