WYNDHAM: Sexual assault at Hoppers Crossing
Detectives from the Sexual Crimes Squad have charged a man following a sexual assault in Hoppers Crossing on Thursday (July 23).
The 39-year-old has been charged with two counts of rape and one count each of aggravated burglary and threat to kill.
The man from Williams Landing was taken into custody in Hoppers Crossing on Friday (July 24) around 11.40am.
The charges follow an incident on Thursday(July 23) where a man, armed with a knife, allegedly forced entry to a property on Whitsunday Drive around 11.30am before sexually assaulting a woman.
Investigations are still ongoing into a second incident where a woman was outside a primary school on Langridge St on Friday when a man allegedly followed her into the school building shortly before 7am and sexually assaulted her.
Investigators are working to establish if both incidents are linked.
Police also attended nearby Branton Rd after a resident reported a possible burglary overnight from Thursday into Friday, after noticing several items disturbed.
The man was remanded to appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Saturday (July 25).
