CARDINIA: Pakenham Hospital plans unveiled
Melissa Horne, Health Infrastructure Minister, was joined by Pakenham MLA Emma Vulin, at the Pakenham Community Hospital worksite to reveal designs for the new service.
The new service will help alleviate pressure on nearby emergency departments and major hospitals, delivering important care and treatment for minor injuries or illnesses.
“It will also provide strong links to specialists, community health providers and social support services – improving follow-up treatment and support for those requiring complex care,” said a State Government representative.
The designs show the new public hospital’s exterior, main reception, waiting area as well as dialysis and dental spaces.
These areas have all been designed to create safe and comfortable environments for staff, patients, and families.
The Pakenham Community Hospital will be managed by Monash Health.
It will include two levels of clinical spaces providing a number of services including allied health and rehabilitation, diagnostics like pathology and imaging, public dental, chemotherapy, dialysis and urgent care.
Demolition work on the site on Drake Place in Pakenham began in November and major construction on the new community hospital will commence soon.
Delivered by the Victorian Health Building Authority in partnership with Monash Health, and builder Lendlease, the Pakenham Community Hospital is on track to be completed in 2026.
“We are continuing to deliver new and upgraded public health services right across Victoria – the new Pakenham Community Hospital will improve access to everyday healthcare for thousands of families when they need it,” said Ms Horne.
Ms Vulin said: “It’s wonderful to showcase these designs today as we prepare for construction to begin on the new Pakenham Community Hospital – I know our community is excited to see progress on site.”
