SOUTH-EAST: P-plater clocked at 224-kmh

A P-plater is expected to lose his licence and will face a magistrate after allegedly travelling more than 200-kmh and evading officers in Carrum Downs on Thursday evening (Oct. 22).
Somerville Highway Patrol officers were on patrol when they allegedly detected the BMW 230i travelling at 224-kmh in the 100-kmh zone on EastLink just after 8pm.
Officers activated their lights and sirens in an attempt to intercept the vehicle, before it allegedly took off and continued to travel at a fast rate of speed.
Police on Friday morning (Oct. 23) arrested an 18-year-old Clyde North man after presenting to a police station.
He was interviewed and is expected to be charged on summons with conduct endangering life and several traffic offences.
A notice to surrender the vehicle is also expected to be served on the registered owner, believed to be known to the driver.
