Kinglake, Yea netballers face off this weekend

KINGLAKE FOOTBALL-
NETBALL CLUB
REPORT

Elimination Final
Kinglake 53 d Seville 37
Kinglake started the first quarter off very flat, scaring their supporters. Most likely because the girls warmed up for the first time this season. The first quarter had the Laker ladies finding them selves flat in attack whilst Seville made clear plays. Towards the end of the first quarter, Lakers started to get some rhythm ending with three goals behind (8-11).
Abbie Barnes came on into WA and open up the attack end with her agility allowing Monique Nagle (20) and Fiona Olarenshaw (33) to focus on movement within the ring to balance the attack end. At half-time Kinglake had outscored Seville by 15-7 (23-18).
The third half was an even better quarter with Bridget Waack moving into C and Nakita Lastrina into WD. Nakita and Caitlin Ryan used their playing experience to transition the ball into the attacking end with ease.
Alice Waack and Caitlin both had outstanding defence all game but pushed Lakers on in the third quarter, keeping Seville again to only 8. Monique and Fiona found their communication and had Seville’s defenders looking at the ground to keep Lakers 13 goals ahead going into the last quarter.
Latoya Wards came into C and Lakers remainder calm and collected. A tactical time was called to get some more players on with Renee Wilson coming into WD. The girls finished the final quarter with 14-11 to secure a place in the 1st Semi Final next weekend.
Thankyou to Taryn Jennings and Lauren Watson, I’m sorry you couldn’t get on today but your support and encouragement is amazing. Thankyou to Casey Lee Barns for stepping up as assistant coach and helping with direction. Thankyou to all supporters as well.
Semi 1: (winner to Grand Final and loser to Prelim) Kinglake vs Yea
Semi 2: (winner to Prelim) Seville vs Powelltown.
