Syd Karimi has taken over postal services at Buxton.

The signage and red postal box have been installed at his Shell Service Station, and the new post office shopfitting was being finalised at the weekend.

Stocks of The Local Paper will now be available each week at the 2093 Maroondah Hwy address.

• ODD SPOT: When the old post office store closed, Buxton Post Office services were temporarily moved to Taggerty for a day, then Marysville in the interim. Historians can note that Buxton PO was officially at Taggerty for an entire 24 hours.
