Yea A-Grade cricket report
Sunday, January 13, 2019
Saturday saw Yea host Avenel in the second day of their two-day match.
The first week’s action had seen Avenel take complete control of the game, dismissing Yea for 69 and being 2/64 in reply, needing only five runs to take first innings points.
The visitors had little trouble passing Yea and taking first innings points, however from that point on Yea swung the momentum.
A collapse that saw Avenel lose 7/27 saw them bowled out for 102, a first innings lead of 33 with Andrew Chisholm taking 4/18 and Will Dalton 3/1.
This left the door ajar for either an outright victory for Avenel or a reverse outright for Yea. However, the Tigers innings progressed too slowly, and the captains agreed there was little chance of there being time for a second innings result, so Yea’s innings was closed at the 20 over mark, with the result being an Avenel first innings victory.
The loss sees Yea slip to second on the ladder, with an away game at Broadford to come, starting next weekend.
