WHITEHORSE: Restaurant fire at Nunawading
Fire Rescue Victoria responded to a restaurant fire on Springvale Rd, Nunawading shortly after 1.30pm on Thursday afternoon (Mar. 27).
Firefighters arrived on scene within three minutes to find smoke and flames issuing from the ground floor of a double storey brick building.
The fire is believed to have started from some cooking activities in the kitchen of the ground floor restaurant.
Through their quick work, firefighters were able to stop the fire from spreading to the rest of the structure.
Firefighters searched the ground floor restaurant and first floor apartments and were able to confirm all persons had evacuated the building. No injuries were reported.
The fire was deemed under control at 2.11pm, 33 minutes after firefighters arrived on the scene.
The kitchen sustained significant damage in the blaze.
The local council building and health inspectors were requested to attend the premises and assess the damage.
