MELBOURNE: Woman assaulted in Flinders St.

Transit Safety Division police are appealing for public assistance to identify a man following an assault in Melbourne’s CBD.

It is understood a woman got off a train at Flinders St Railway Station and walked across Flinders St, where a man bumped into her at the intersection of Swanston St about 2pm on December 13.

They both continued walking in opposite directions.

Police were told the offender then turned around and followed the victim east along Flinders St, where he pushed her from behind on the footpath near Hosier Lane.

The 39-year-old woman fell to the ground and was taken to hospital with a serious injury.

The man fled on foot into Federation Square.

Investigators have released images of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

He is perceived to be Caucasian, of medium build, bald and aged in his 40’s.

The man was last seen wearing blue cargo pants, a black T-shirt with a tram graphic on the front and white shoes.
