MURRINDINDI: Big weekend ahead for Rebels

The Alexandra Football Netball Club has a jam-packed weekend ahead, with a range of events and matches set to bring the club and local community together in celebration, competition, and remembrance.
Festivities kick off on Thursday (Apr. 24) with the Junior Football Jumper and Netball Dress Presentation Night, beginning at 5.30pm in the clubrooms. All junior players will be presented with their playing uniforms for the season. Dinner will be available, and everyone in the community is warmly invited to attend.
On Saturday (Apr. 26), the Rebels will host the Pakenham Lions at home for three games of football and five games of netball. In collaboration with the Alexandra RSL, the day will also serve as a tribute to the ANZAC spirit, with all entry fees donated to the local RSL to support their ongoing work in the community.
A special ceremony will be held at approximately 2pm, where players, officials, RSL members, and spectators will gather to honour the ANZAC legacy.
Following the conclusion of matches and presentation of awards in the clubrooms, the club will host the highly anticipated Dream Team Auction, where teams made up of both football and netball players will be auctioned off. Team lists will be available on the night, and players will earn points throughout the season, with a cash prize awarded to the winning team owner at Presentation Night later in the year.
Chicken schnitzel rolls will be available for purchase from the kitchen throughout the evening.
The weekend continues on Sunday (Apr. 27) with the first round of junior football and netball competitions. Alexandra will host Seymour Lions across multiple age groups, including Under 9, 10, 12, and 14 football, and Under 11, 13, and 15 netball. Meanwhile, the Under 16 football team will travel to Euroa to face Shepparton United Demons, with the match scheduled to start at 12 Noon.
The Alexandra Football Netball Club would also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank its major sponsors for the 2025 season: FoodWorks, Hedger Constructions, O’Brien’s Real Estate, Kervale, Eildon Bakery, Penstock Pastoral, and HG Turf. Their support is invaluable to the continued success and growth of the club.
