ECHUCA: 92-year-old man’s mobility scooter stolen

Echuca police are investigating after a 92-year-old man’s mobility scooter and car were stolen from a local property this week.

Unknown offenders gained access to the victim’s shed at his property on Hare St, stealing his Merits motorised scooter between 4pm on Monday (Jan. 20) and 8.15am on Tuesday (Jan. 21).

It is believed the offenders re-attended the property and stole the victim’s Mazda 2 sedan bearing registration 1AN6BO on Wednesday (Jan. 22) about 5.15am.

The car was driven through a gate as it left the property, causing damage to the front of the vehicle and the side view mirrors to detach.

The Mazda was last seen travelling west on Service St in Echuca, immediately following the theft (pictured).

Investigators have released images of the victim’s Mazda in the hopes that someone knows of its current whereabouts.

The scooter is valued at approximately $5000 and the Mazda $6000.

Detectives will also investigate whether an aggravated burglary on Hare St between 3am and 7.30am on Wednesday (Jan. 22) is linked.
