Yea Market to re-open from November
Wednesday, October 18, 2017
The monthly Yea Market will re-open from Saturday, November 4 (Melbourne Cup weekend) with a new committee, full of energy and enthusiasm.
To be re-named as the Yea Railway Market, the event will again be held on the first Saturday of the month, says President Jacqueline Downing. Her committee includes Christine Hooten (Secretary), Clare Hooton (Treasurer), Russell James-Downing and Ron Perry. They are keen to see extra new committee members join.
The November market, to be held in the grounds of the Yea Railway Station Reserve, currently has more than a dozen stallholders confirming their participation. More community input is needed. There will be a car boot sale, at $20 per car, or $30 for a car with trailer.
Musicians are needed for the November and December markets. Please contact Jacqueline Downing on 0427 722 624, or email: globalgemsandfinejewellery.com.au
The running of the barbecue will be rotated each month between local community groups. It is hoped that Yea cubs and scouts will manage the November barbecue. These events can raise some hundreds of dollars each month for the participating community groups. Non-profit community groups can run a table without charge, by contacting the organisers.
The new committee will incorporate a new organisation with its own fresh ABN. They are seeking publicity through major media outlets such as 3AW and ABC radio, as well asĀ The Local PaperĀ and UGFM radio. The committee is praising Murrindindi Shire Council for their co-operation.
Ms Downing said members of the former committee are to be praised for their efforts, and for the helpful way in which a handover is being organised.
We are intersted in having a stall at your next market.
