HOBSONS BAY: New pop-up at Spotswood
A new pop-up space in Spotswood has been established to encourage residents to get out and about in the shopping precinct.
The temporary pop-up, The Village Spot, found at the Hudsons Rd end of Spotswood’s Forrest St, has been created to facilitate outdoor dining and be a place where the Spotswood community and visitors can sit, socialise, and enjoy the Spotswood Village.
The Village Spot trial was installed in late December, and will be in place until March.
Various activations will feature at the site over the coming weeks, including Spotswood Summer Sessions, courtesy of the Spotswood Traders’ Association.
The sessions will feature live music performances on:
Thursday January 30, 4pm to 8.30pm
Saturday February 8, 12pm to 4pm
Saturday March1 , 12pm to 4pm
The pop-up came following consultation with businesses and residents.
Mayor of Hobsons Bay, Cr Daria Kellander, said: “We are always looking for new and different ways to support local businesses and add to the community atmosphere.
“This pop-up is a great way for the community to enjoy some of the great things Spotswood has to offer.
“We hope to see the community get out and about and enjoy this unique spot.”
Spotswood Ward Councillor, Cr Kristin Bishop, said: “I’ve enjoyed seeing people out and about, enjoying themselves in our social village. It’s great for businesses and great for the community.”
