MORNINGTON PENINSULA: McKenzie likely to win Flinders

As this issue of The Local Paper went to press, Sky News Chief Political Analyst Tiom Connell said that the ‘three-horse race’ in Flinders saw Ms McKenzie achieving a primary vote of 41.59 per cent to the 22.24 per cent for Labor’s Sarah Race and the 21.67 per cent for Teal independent Ben Smith.
According to the AEC’s ‘three candidate preferred’ calculation, Ms McKenzie was on 49.02 per cent, with the Labor and Teal candidates battling out for second on 26.5 per cent and 24.49 per cent, respectively.
The Sky News analyst explained there was now just too many hurdles for either Labor or the Teals to pick up the seat.
In Monash, the Liberal’s Mary Aldred looked likely to claim the seat, said the broadcaster. She sitting on 32.29 per cent of the first primary vote, with Labor’s Tully Fletcher on 20.19 per cent, and Teal independent Deb Leonard on 17.35 per cent.
