BRIMBANK: Arrest over puppy scam


Brimbank Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested and charged a woman following a series of alleged online puppy scams this year.

The alleged deceptions occurred on May 17 and 2, and three times on June 5.

It is alleged the woman advertised puppies for sale online and asked five victims to make a substantial deposit payment for a puppy.

Once the victims paid a deposit the woman allegedly ceased all contact, leaving the victims without a puppy or their money back.

Detectives executed a search warrant at a Thornhill Park address on July 20.
A 29-year-old woman was arrested and subsequently interviewed by Police.

Detectives have since charged the woman with five counts of obtain property by deception and breaching a court order.

She was bailed to appear before Sunshine Magistrates’ Court on April 6.
