MELTON: Transport boost for Mount Atkinson
Kororoit MLA Luba Grigorovitch (pictured) says public transport has been the number one issue raised by residents across the entire electorate, “from Deer Park to Caroline Springs, from Aintree to Mount Atkinson”.
“Our communities need better, more connected public transport to get to work, to get to school, to get to appointments and to stay linked with family and friends.,” Ms Grigorovitch said.
“Nowhere has that been made clearer than in Mount Atkinson. I have literally spent countless hours listening to and working with residents – hardworking families who have been waiting too long simply for the basics.
“Well, I have heard you, the Allan Labor Government has heard you and today’s budget has delivered for you. I am proud to say that Mount Atkinson will no longer be the island of the west.
“The introduction of the brand new route 140, connecting Rockbank station to Tarneit station via Mount Atkinson, will finally give this growing community the vital link that it deserves. “We are also delivering route 405, connecting Cairnlea with Deer Park station, and reconfiguring routes 444, 461, 463 and 464 to fill coverage gaps in Aintree, Hillside, Deanside and Fraser Rise, linking more residents to jobs, schools and the Metro Tunnel service.
“From January 1 we are introducing free public transport for children under 18, saving families up to $755 a year – real help with the cost of living right there,” Ms Grigorovitch said.
