A $12 million price tag has been put on the historic Murrin-dindi Station property being offered for sale through Elders, reports The Weekly Times.

The landmark estate with its Victorian-era homestead is ocated 12km south of Yea.

There are nine certificates of title for the properties that front the Yea and Murrindindi Rivers.

Expressions of interest for the 430-hectare property close on Friday, December 3.

The property was taken up in 1837 by district pioneer Peter Snodgrass.

The land was sold in 1844 to Alex Miller, a Scot, as two separate holdings known as Murrindinda and Murrin-dindi, with an aggregate of more than 40,000 acres.

“Miller built one section of the present homestead four years later using local uncut stone for the foundations and sun-dried bricks for walls, with the older part of the house, the woolshed (1881) and stable and coach house all now bearing a National Trust classification,” said The Weekly Times report written by Colin Taylor.

The rose garden was established in 1881, and features manicured hedges and statues, vine-covered arbour, lush lawns, established trees, a 30-tree orchard and river red gums believed to be 400-500 years old.

Over the years the property has been associated with local historian Harry Gordon, and the Adams family of Adams Pest Control.

The property has hosted social events including one held by the Rotary Club of Yea.

Pastures feature a selection of ryegrasses, phalaris, rape and sub-clovers.
