HUME: Glenroy firearms incident arrest


Police arrested a man last night following an assault and two firearms incidents in the Glenroy area on Thursday (Jan. 23).

Officers were told a woman was assaulted by a man known to her at a property in Essendon North about 7.50am.

The victim, a 27-year-old Essendon North woman, was hospitalised with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Emergency services were later called to reports of shots fired at two separate vehicles on Tullamarine Fwy, Glenroy, and Pascoe Vale Rd in Jacana about 9.15am.

No one was injured during either incident.

With the assistance of officers from Special Operations Group, a man was located and arrested in a Glenroy Rd car park about 9.50pm last night and a firearm was also seized.

A 37-year-old man Craigieburn man was hospitalised and remains under police guard.

He will be interviewed by Armed Crime Squad detectives at a later date.

The investigation remains ongoing.

A 38-year-old Roxburgh Park man presented to a hospital in Coburg about 12 Noon on Thursday with a gunshot wound.

The exact circumstances are still being established, however police believe this is also linked to this series of incidents.
