HUME: $200,000 haul nabbed at Broadmeadows
Hume Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested a man after a trailer loaded with more than $200,000 in aluminium was stolen from a Campbellfield warehouse.
It is alleged the 45-foot flatbed trailer, carrying large aluminium poles, was stolen from outside the Sydney Rd business about 5am on Monday, June 16.
Police were called the following day when the trailer was observed being driven along Sydney Rd about 2.10am.
Officers responded, locating the truck abandoned on Cavendish St, Broadmeadows.
The vehicle was searched and a backpack containing $10,350 cash was seized.
The Dog Squad tracked the alleged offender who fled on foot and was located hiding in grassland area off Ripplebrook Drive.
The 39-year-old Meadow Heights man was arrested and was being interviewed.
Investigators are searching for a second offender believed to be involved.
The investigation remains ongoing.
