MANSFIELD: Skate Park Leagues to visit
Tuesday, January 3, 2023
The Australian Skate Park Leagues is coming to Mansfield’s Skate Park in Highett St from 11am on Sunday, January 15, for the rescheduled North East Skate Park Series. Entry is free and all abilities are welcome.
The Mansfield round is part of an interconnected series of free skate park events across the region and will feature Scooter, BMX, and Skateboard competitions.
The series provides an opportunity for both seasoned veterans and young enthusiasts to get involved. Athletes can compete to be crowned the winner of the North East Skate Park Series, while those still finding their feet get the opportunity to have a go, improve their skills, interact with the pros and win some prizes.
Commentating and judging of the events is done by locals, providing an opportunity to learn about running a skate park event.
Mayor Cr James Tehan (pictured) said this event provided Mansfield Shire’s young people with opportunities to connect with their peers and to develop athletic and event management skills, with the support of the Youth Program team.
“The Youth Program team are collaborating with YMCA to deliver this event for Mansfield Shire’s young people,” he said.
“It’s another example of how our Youth Team work to provide opportunities for the younger members of our community to be active, engaged and to feel connected.
“Everyone is welcome, regardless of skill or ability and those with specific needs should contact the Youth Team to discuss their needs prior to registering.”
This event is within the Eastern Regional Series and forms part of the wider Victoria League that feeds into the YMCA’s national pathway program comprising of leagues across Australia.
These events and activities are made possible by State Government FReeZA and Engage! Funding and the Victorian Youth Fest 2022 Grant.
