Problems at Black Spur

Traffic has been reduced to one-lane on the Maroondah Hwy this morning at Dom Dom Saddle, Healesville-bound, after a semi-trailer left the roadway. Rainy weather has made road conditions difficult throughout the region. The highway is expected to be closed in both directions when recovery of the truck takes place today (Fri.).

Traffic slowed at Healesville

Two factors are slowing Maroondah Hwy traffic at Healesville this morning (Fri., Sept. 20). A faulty truck wheel caught fire near the Maroondah Hwy intersection with Healesville-Koo-Wee-Rup Rd (near Airlie Rd). In a second incident, a tree is down over the highway between Fernshaw and Healesville.

Highway re-opens

8.20AM THURSDAY UPDATE The Maroondah Highway has re-opened to traffic in both directions between Healesville and Narbethong after crews cleared a fallen tree. VicRoads would like to thank motorists for their patience.

Tree down on Yea Rd

Black Spur: highway re-opens

Reports indicate that Maroondah Hwy has re-opened from Healesville to Narbethong after the tragic accident earlier today (Fri.).

VicRoads have this morning (Fri.) issued a statement about the closure of the Black Spur following a serious accident: The Maroondah Highway is closed through the ‘Black Spur’, between Healesville and Narbethong, following a serious collision.  Drivers need to plan ahead and allow extra time, and consider delaying their journey, if possible. 10.50PM UPDATE: Two air ambulances have been dispatched to the area.Four people are believed to be injured. UPDATE: A tree is reported to have fallen on a car on the Black Spur. EARLIER REPORT: Five emergency vehicles are responding to a rescue alert near Fernshaw. Emergency Victoria says the request for help came at 9.56am. Earlier today, the Maroondah Hwy was blocked when a tree came down over both lanes.
