Hazeldene fire ‘safe’

The fire, 5kms west of Hazeldene at Flowerdale, has been described as ‘safe’. Eight vehicles have been responding to a 0.1-hectare fire in heavily timbered country, Emergency Victoria advises. The sounds and smells of fire – sirens, aircraft, smoke – have been an uncomfortable reminder for many locals on this first Saturday in February.

Building fire at Mernda

5.50AM SAT.: CFA volunteers are being called to a building fire at Mernda, on Plenty Rd, south of Bridge Inn Rd. Two vehicles are responding to the small fire.

Fire at Maintongoon

Two fires have been reported this afternoon (Fri.) at Maintongoon, near Bonnie Doon and Woodfield. One fire is reported at the Maintongoon Bush Reserve, the other nearby in Woolshed Rd, Woodfield. Three local CFA brigades are attending.
