{"id":17489,"date":"2026-02-20T03:47:56","date_gmt":"2026-02-19T16:47:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dindi.com.au\/wp\/?p=17489"},"modified":"2026-02-20T03:47:57","modified_gmt":"2026-02-19T16:47:57","slug":"melbourne-gas-leak-scare","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dindi.com.au\/wp\/2026\/02\/20\/melbourne-gas-leak-scare\/","title":{"rendered":"MELBOURNE: Gas leak scare"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fire Rescue Victoria responded at 10.54pm Wednesday (Feb. 18) to an incident on Latrobe St, Melbourne, after a caller to Triple Zero (000) reported a smell of gas.<br>Firefighters arrived on scene within six minutes at the multi-storey commercial building where the incident was reported.<br>Around 100 people were safely evacuated from the building, managed by Victoria Police.<br>Firefighters donned breathing apparatus and used gas detectors to work on locating the source of the leak.<br>The response involved 21 firefighters, four pumper appliances, one rescue unit and one other unit.<br>The incident was deemed Under Control at 12.57pm.
