{"id":19879,"date":"2026-07-03T21:19:59","date_gmt":"2026-07-03T11:19:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dindi.com.au\/wp\/?p=19879"},"modified":"2026-07-03T21:20:28","modified_gmt":"2026-07-03T11:20:28","slug":"observer-evocation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dindi.com.au\/wp\/2026\/07\/03\/observer-evocation\/","title":{"rendered":"OBSERVER: Evocation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Royal Melbourne Philharmonic will be spreading its musical magic beyond Melbourne, with its forthcoming concert called Evocations, which is a program of short choral works from around the world.<br>Over the weekends of July 11-12 and 18-19, the RMP will perform this concert in Melbourne, Ballarat and Castlemaine.<br>RMP Artistic Director Andrew Wailes (pictyured) has chosen the word Evocation to describe the program which he says is designed to \u201cuplift, awaken, soothe and inspire\u201d.<br>The program features several celebrated contemporary composers from Latvia, Lichtenstein, South Korea, Norway, Australia and America.<br>Bringing the program to life is the RMP Choir, the Aurora Australia Quartet and brilliant pianist Stefan Cassomenos, all conducted by Andrew Wailes.<br>Wailes says that the music is all designed to both soothe and inspire the audience.<br>\u201cEach piece I brings with it a different emotional message or evocation, whether it be the imaginative recreation of past memories, or the summoning of strong mental images and feelings associated with human emotions connected to love, loss, or wonder.<br>\u201cThere are moments of majesty that only the human voice can create, and even the recreation of Australian birdsong \u2013 there\u2019s something for everyone.\u201d<br>Tickets include complimentary tea and coffee after the concert, and a chance to chat with the musicians.<br>\u201cWe want to make this concert an intimate and meaningful experience for all those who attend\u201d said Wailes, who has just returned from several engagements in China.<br>Four performances will be presented in the beautiful acoustics of the Assembly Hall, on Saturday July 11 and 18, with a concert in Ballarat\u2019s historic Central Uniting Church on Sunday July 12, and a final performance in Castlemaine Town Hall on Sunday July 19.
