Eramosa Rd East between Lower Somerville Rd and Western Port Hwy will receive major upgrades, including pavement and drainage upgrades, road safety barriers at high-risk areas, and audio-tactile line marking.
During this period the road will be closed to through traffic, however residents who live along this section of road will maintain access \u2013 although with some delays to their travel time expected.
Mornington Peninsula Shire Mayor Cr Stephen Batty said that roads were a key priority for Council.
\u201cMaintaining and renewing roads, drainage and community assets remains one of the Shire’s highest priorities. This is a busy road and while it is inconvenient with a road closure, the result will be worth it. The road will be much safer when it reopens,” Cr Batty said.
Beek Beek Ward Councillor Kate Roper said that Somerville residents have been waiting for this upgrade.
\u201cI know the community will be happy to see this project commencing shortly. The Shire and contractor will be communicating with affected residents and the wider community to ensure everyone is well informed,\u201c Cr Roper said.
\u201cPending weather conditions, our aim is complete the works and reopen the road before Christmas,\u201d a Council representative said.
