Heathcote Police are investigating the theft of a much beloved disability-support horse from Axedale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
‘Rosie’ has helped over 100 children with disabilities as a therapy horse over the past two years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The mild-mannered equestrian is valued at $40,000 but means even more to the young children who ride her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Investigators have been told the horse was stolen from a property on Canny Road between 8pm on Monday, March 17, and 8am and Tuesday, March 18.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police have released an image of Rosie, who is a black and white Gypsy Cob mare, in the hope someone can provide information on her whereabouts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Investigators are particularly interested in anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage showing a vehicle towing a horse trailer in the Axedale, Heathcote, Strathfieldsaye or Bendigo areas between Monday night and Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Leading Senior Constable Dan O\u2019Bree from Heathcote Police said officers were extremely motivated to return this horse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis is a case that\u2019s caused a lot of pain to a number of vulnerable young children,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cRosie means an awful lot to these kids and we want nothing more than to see her returned unharmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
