Police have charged a 21-year-old man allegedly spotted doing 170km\/h in a stolen car in Melbourne\u2019s north early on Tuesday morning (Apr. 1).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Police Air Wing was out on patrol when a speeding Toyota Hilux caught their attention travelling along the Western Ring Road about 12.40am.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Enquiries soon determined the vehicle also had false plates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The chopper took up observations above and guided members on the ground to Weemala Court in Meadows Heights where the driver dumped the vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officers converged on the area, searching for the driver who had fled on foot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The alleged driver was located hiding in the rear of a nearby Tarcoola Avenue home and taken into custody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Dallas man was charged with theft of motor vehicle, dangerous driving while being pursued by police, reckless conduct endangering life, speed dangerous, breach of bail, drug possession and other driving offences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Detectives will also interview him into the theft of numerous vehicles in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was remanded to appear in Melbourne Magistrates\u2019 Court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The vehicle was confirmed stolen from outside a Pascoe Vale Rd gym in Coolaroo on March 30.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
