MITCHELL: Lighting works in Seymour
Following the construction of two new pedestrian crossings on Wallis St and Station St in Seymour, contractors will be completing the installation of public lighting in August.
Day works will take place from Wednesday, August 19 to Friday,August 21, between 7am and 5pm, weather permitting.
The public lighting works will involve installing a new hard-wired light pole overlooking the new Wallis St raised crossing, requiring an electrical connection from Tallarook St power pole.
To safely complete these works,the following temporary traffic management will be in place during the works:
• Works will mostly be undertaken behind the ‘back of kerb’ on the corner of Wallis St and Tallarook St to minimise lengthy impacts to local traffic.
• Wallis St’s northbound lane and Tallarook St’s eastbound lane may be closed during the pole erection and electrical connection phase of the works. This is likely to occur during Wednesday and Thursday for periods up to 3-4 hours between 9am and 3pm.
• Detours will be in place for the Wallis St lane closure.
• Shuttle flow managed by Traffic Controllers for the roundabout movements will be in place for the Tallarook St lane closure
• Drivers should allow extra travel time and follow instructions from traffic controllers and signage.
• Access to homes, businesses and surrounding streets will be maintained, although short delays may occur.
• The footpath at the Wallis St/Tallarook St corner may be closed to pedestrians at certain times during the construction works, however customers/patrons for local businesses can be escorted under traffic control.
