OBSERVER: Julius Caesar

Artefact Theatre Company presents Shakespeare’s political thriller from October 15-24 at the St Martins Irene Mitchell Studio, South Yarra.
Directed by Matthew Cox, Julius Caesar features a cast of graduate actors, an intensive pilot course that culminates in a full performance season. The intensive has focused on practical-production-ready skills including voice, movement, language, fight and character – the result is a production built from the ground up by a new generation of Melbourne performers, working through one of Shakespeare’s most demanding texts.
Mark Yeates, Co-Producer says: “Shakespeare is the ultimate test for a young actor. The language demands precision, the politics demand clarity, and there’s nowhere to hide. If you can stand up in Julius Caesar and make an audience lean in, you can do just about anything.”
Featuring Jordy Stopp as Caesar, Jasper Mclorinan as Brutus, Rebecca Stephens as Cassius and Ashley Ramsey as Mark Antony, alongside an ensemble of emerging Melbourne talent.
