MAROONDAH: Local roads unsafe, Mayor tells Minister
Eastern suburbs roads, the maintenance of which is the responsibility of the State Government, are unsafe, Maroondah Mayor Cr Kylie Spears has told Roads Minister Melissa Horne (pictured).
“Resident concerns have increased in the past couple of years in relation to the unsafe and unsightly condition of DTP-managed arterial roads in Maroondah,” Cr Spears said.
“Residents are frustrated by the lack of regular maintenance on arterial roads and have reported an increase in potholes and uneven surfaces that have not been rectified by DTP in a timely manner.
“These road issues create a heightened risk for vehicle damage or major collision, particularly on high-speed roads, like most arterial roads in Maroondah.”
Maroondah Council is continuing to advocate to the State Government for the repair of unsafe and unsightly major roads and median strips managed by DTP.
In writing to Ms Horne, Maroondah Council has called for the immediate need for regular and ongoing arterial road maintenance to address safety risks and fire hazards.
