KNOX: Woman arrested for motorycycle stunts
An alleged hoon motorcyclist has been arrested after performing dangerous stunts, including hitting speeds of close to 190-kmh and touching trucks and other riders while in traffic.
The Knox Road Crime Tasking Team have been investigating after a series of videos were posted online depicting a female motorcyclist allegedly riding dangerously.
It is alleged the motorcyclist engaged in risky behaviour as a ‘challenge’, which included weaving in and out of traffic to get within centimetres of a truck, touching it and riding off.
The rider also allegedly filmed herself hitting speeds of up to 184-kmh on the Monash Fwy.
The series of videos gained traction online and came to the attention of police, who immediately began investigating.
Officers from the Knox Road Crime Tasking Team executed a search warrant in Rowville on the morning of Januaryx 29, where an 18-year-old woman was arrested.
The woman is expected to be charged on summons with reckless conduct endangering serious injury, drive in a dangerous manner, excessive speeding and fail to have proper control.
Knox Highway Patrol Acting Senior Sergeant Leigh Thomson said: “Any deliberate reckless conduct on our roads is something Victoria Police does not tolerate.
“The risk of what can happen in these situations is absolutely not worth gaining a few likes on a video.
“Local Highway Patrol units will continue to monitor our roads and ensure they are safe for all road users – we encourage anyone who witnesses dangerous driving to contact Crime Stoppers so we can investigate and hold people to account,” Acting Sen. Sht Thornton said.
