MARIBYRNONG: Suspicious fire at Yarraville


Fire Rescue Victoria firefighters responded to a fire in Yarraville on Wednesday morning (Nov. 26).
Callers to Triple Zero reported that two cars were alight and threatening a house.
Crews arrived at the Stephen St scene at 2.39am, within seven minutes.
Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters quickly attacked the car fires.
Neighbours in nearby properties were evacuated as a precaution.
Firefighters extinguished the car fires after 10 minutes of arriving on scene, then entered the house, the front of which was alight.
Three people had safely evacuated to the back of the property and were not injured.
Firefighters worked together to attack the fire, bringing it under control at 3.05am.
The fire was deemed suspicious and is being investigated by Victoria Police.
Maribyrnong City Council was notified of the event. A community advice notice was issued for smoke in the area.
