NORTH-EAST: ‘Too dangerous to leave’


An Emergency Warning has been issued for Ancona, Fawcett, Gooram, Merton, Strathbogie, Strathbogie South, Woodfield.

In an advice rleased at 12,.56am on Saturday (Jan. 10), the Country Fire Authority said: “A wind change has occurred on the evening of Friday (Jan. 9) and impacted the fireground.

“This has caused the fire to change direction toward the east (towards Lake Eildon).

“While fire behaviour has reduced, the fire is not contained and is still spreading. This fire is threatening homes and lives.

“It is too dangerous to leave the area safely so you must take shelter now.

“The safest option is to take shelter indoors immediately. It is too dangerous to leave.”

At 12.39am Saturday, a ‘Take Shelter Now’ advice was issued for Acheron, Devils River, Eildon, Taylor Bay, Thornton.

At 12.37am Saturday, a ‘Take Shelter Now’ advice was issued for Alexandra, Devils River, Fawcett, Lake Eildon, Maintongoon.

At 12.35am Saturday, a ‘Take Shelter Now’ advice was issued for Cathkin, Caveat, Ghin Ghin, Highlands, Kanumbra, Killingworth, Koriella, Molesworth, Whanregarwen, Yarck.

At 12.03am Saturday, a ‘Take Shelter Now’ advice was issued for for Break O’Day, Buxton, Devlin Bridge, Flowerdale, Glenburn, Rubicon, Taggerty, Thornton, Toolangi, Woodbourne.

At 12.01am Saturday, a ‘Leave Immediately’ advice was issued for for issued for Dairy Creek, Ghin Ghin, Granite, Homewood, Kerrisdale, Trawool, Whiteheads Creek.

At 12 midnight Friday, a ‘Leave Immediately’ advice was issued for Creighton, Creightons Creek, Euroa, Kithbrook, Locksley, Longwood, Longwood East, Pranjip, Sheans Creek.
